In summarising,

  • No Sil without FIL
  • Khairy is now the underdog
  • He struggles along to get nominated – how would he have loved it if there had been no restriction
  • Mahathir hand is apparent since he wanted all Abdullah’s men out
  • Even Datuk Zaki Zahid is also a special officer to the Prime Minister could not help in the Putra Jaya UMNO elections
  • Mukhriz’s campaign work helped him

So, Khairy has been brought down to earth, and would appear his dream of PM before he turns 40, is just a dream.

Khairy is now underdog in Umno Youth race

Khairy is now underdog in Umno Youth race

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 19 – With only two weeks left to the end of Umno divisional delegates meetings, Umno Youth deputy chief, Khairy Jamaluddin, with only 33 nominations, remains the underdog for the contest to lead the wing, trailing far behind Datuk Mukhriz Mahathir, who has received 60 nominations, while Datuk Seri Dr Khir Toyo, received 26.

Mukhriz obtained the minimum 38 nominations required to contest for the post on Oct 12, just three days after the start of divisional meetings, while Khairy is still struggling to get the 20% nominations.

Some observers blamed it on the decision by Datuk Seri Abdullah Badawi not to defend the party presidency. At the same time, Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad had also urged Umno members to get rid of Abdullah’s men in the new administration.

The Rembau MP even failed to get a nomination from Putrajaya Umno, a division perceived to be inclined towards him as the Youth chief, Datuk Zaki Zahid is also a special officer to the Prime Minister.

He obtained only 22 votes, while Mukhriz got 33 and Datuk Seri Dr Khir Toyo, 22. A total of 90 delegates attended the meeting on Saturday afternoon that lasted for more than six hours.

However, Zaki retained his position, beating former Putrajaya Umno Youth exco member Tun Faisal Ismail Aziz, by merely three votes. Some delegates had predicted that Zaki would be another casualty in the uprising against Abdullah and his men.

Zaki was laughing when asked to interpret the voting trend, but admitted he would prefer someone else to be nominated for the Umno Youth chief post.

“I wish him congratulations; I was there when he came on Thursday, he was welcomed here in Putrajaya, although my personal preference is different, but we abide by the choice made by the delegates here,” said Zaki.

But for Tun Faisal, who is also a special officer to Datuk Seri Hishamuddin Husein, the signal for change from the delegates was very clear. He agreed that he did not totally lose the fight, as the division had nominated Mukhriz.

Newly elected Putrajaya Umno Youth deputy chief, Hishamuddin Yahya however was a little shocked by the nomination but not surprised with Zaki’s victory.

He added that less than 48 hours before the start of the meeting the fight for nomination was between Khir and Mukhriz.

“All three candidates were here to meet the delegates, Khairy came on the last day, the delegates have already decided to choose either Khir Toyo or Datuk Mukhriz,” said Hishamuddin, who initially thought Khir would be nominated by the division.

“Maybe the delegates were more impressed with Mukhriz’s campaign work,” he told The Malaysian Insider.

He said that Zaki’s victory shows that leaders linked to Abdullah are not rejected by the party grass roots.

“It is not right to reject someone just because he is connected to the Prime Minister, every leader must be judged individually, it is unfair, just because the Prime Minister is retiring. And Zaki is an active Youth leader, so he was judged based on his performance,” said Hishamuddin.

Apple polishers are at it again. Perak UMNO youth chief, Zainol Padzi Paharudin, says Khairi has shown leadership traits, a man of caliber, and a loyal deputy to the Keris carrier. Khairi is in the doldrums, neither here or there, and the majority of UMNO members point a finger at him for the election debacle. In fact the silence he has imposed on himself, is clear proof he is not good as a leader. Hishamuddin had a reputation of being notorious, his keris action is hard to forget. As for Khairy, he is the author of Badawi’s downfall, which I think UMNO will not forget.

No Objection To Khairi Contesting Umno Youth Chief Post – Khir

SHAH ALAM, April 9 (Bernama) — Umno supreme council member Datuk Seri Dr Mohamad Khir Toyo said Wednesday he had no objection to Umno Youth vice-chief Khairy Jamaluddin vying for the top post in the movement in December.
“Umno is a democratic party. We can offer ourselves for the post, it’s up to members to choose whom they feel should be given the mandate to rehabilitate the party,” Dr Mohamad Khir told a press conference here Wednesday.
The former Selangor menteri besar was commenting on remarks made by Negeri Sembilan Umno Youth chief Datuk Jamlus Aziz that Khairy was the best candidate to replace Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Tun Hussien as the movement’s leader.
So far only Dr Mohamad Khir and Jerlun MP Datuk Mukhriz Mahathir had annnounced that they would go for the Umno Youth chief post.
Commenting on calls that he should give close attention to Selangor politics rather than contesting the post, Dr Mohamad Khir said the new Selangor Umno liaison committee chairman Tan Sri Muhammad Muhamad Taib was entrusted with the responsibility, although he would continue to assist him.
Dr Mohamad Khir said he felt that his experience would put him in good stead to bring the youths closer to the top leadership as there was a big gap between them.
He said more dialogues with the youths should be held to enable them to voice their pent-up feelings.
Claiming that his blog has received 160,000 comments, he said most of them wanted Umno to listen to them with an open heart.
In IPOH, Perak Umno Youth chief Zainol Padzi Paharudin said he agreed with Jamlus that Khairy was the best candidate to lead the movement as he had shown the leadership traits in his present capacity.
Zainol Padzi said Khairy had proven that he was a leader of calibre, and an effective and loyal deputy to Hishammuddin.
“It will be a waste of his talents if it is not nurtured and polished,” he said in a statement Wednesday.
Zainol Padzi said Khairy had proven his capability and leadership ability when he led the Umno election machinery in several by-elections, put his skills to good use in thwarting criticisms and did not cow under pressure.
As Khairy had cultivated rapport with Umno Youth divisions, Zainol Padri said the Umno Youth vice-chief would be able to forge closer relationship with the grassroots.
“Khairy is courageous and ferocious in defending the New Economic Policy and Malay rights in line with Umno Youth principles and struggles,” said Zainol Padzi.

The Comedy of Errors is one of William Shakespeare’s early plays, written between 1592 and 1594. This present play written in 2008 is much more juicier, spectacular, newer, more funny, and definitely more readable and easier to understand than the early one by Shakespeare. What is more demeaning, it could be true 100%. Enjoy it.

Folks, Badawi actually forgot the Polls date!

Kawan-kawan, there was much confusion over the PM’s dissolution of Parliament earlier this week. The man is a complete fiasco. Many people, including Star columnist Jocelyn Tan, were wondering why the DPM Najib Tun Razak looked embarrassed and confused while standing beside the PM during the announcement.

We thought he was lying on Tuesday 12 February ’08 when he said, ‘No I will not be calling for the polls tomorrow 13 February’. Of course when he did announce the polls on the 13th he once again looked like a total idiot. This dude is totally unaware of his surroundings. Sources say that he was not lying. He was actually telling the truth, in his own way.

The story is like this. The YDP Agong was supposed to travel to the United Arab Emirates on 13th February 2008. So Badawi had no plans to get the King’s consent on the 13th to dissolve Parliament. But he forgot that he would be meeting the Agong on Wednesday morning anyway, for the pre-Cabinet brief. The Agong was leaving for the UAE only later in the day. The S-I-L Khairy then reminded him to get the King’s consent for the dissolution of Parliament. It was only after this reminder that Badawi brought the matter to the King.

Hence the dissolution of Parliament.

This is why RTM again could not provide the live telecast of the PM’s announcement. The PM simply forgot to inform his Minister of Information to get ready. RTM reporters say that they were only told to go to the PM’s office late Wednesday morning for a Press Conference, but NO ONE knew what it was about. The crew reached the PM’s office without live telecast equipment. Only TV3 came better prepared.

Hence, except for TV3, there was no live telecast of the dissolution of Parliament by RTM. Again, Dato Zam’s RTM has bungled the live telecast. Four years ago, RTM bungled the ‘PM’s first 100 days in office’. TV3 beat them to it too.

Badawi is so very predictable. It is true that it was his plan all along to declare the dissolution of Parliament on the 13th day of the month. He thinks that the number 13 will bring HIM luck. So far his leadership has been a shambles for the country. But it is also true that he simply forgot about this, until reminded again by his son-in-law.

Indon & Matdon message

Deputy Prime Minister Najib said although Indonesia’s print media no longer needed licences to operate, and though Malaysia still have laws to control the freedom of press, the Indonesians should understand that Malaysia is still a more democratic country.

“They should understand the different situation in Malaysia.”

“I know the pendulum has shifted in Indonesia but the pendulum is still the same here (in Malaysia).”

“We still have democracy,” Najib said. That’s important!

The question is how you interpret democracy, and how free is free. We are free, and that we must appreciate. We can walk the town and city, and play football. We can still go karaoke and sing some songs, and sing negaraku. We can criticise freely as long as we praise the government who had been doing everything for the rakyat.

We are a free country, that we must appreciate. If not, how can there be so many of you participating in vigils or demonstration. If not, how can those people go around and steal cars, rape and rob. It shows we are a free country, and we even allow these people the freedom to commit crime, but we have laws to punish them if they were caught by the police. We have enforcement agencies to catch the thieves and robbers and rapist. There are some who may be lucky to escape the law, but our enforcers will soon, very soon, catch them and then sent them to court to be tried. Of course, some we don’t need to sent them for trials because we also have laws that gave the ministers the freedom not to put them on trial. But that’s freedom too.

We are free! Go round the city and towns and see for yourselves, that everyone is free to walk about, go shopping, and eat. That’s freedom and that’s democracy! So don’t compare us with Indon; they had a free press, but they should understand that they are not free to criticize our system as we are different. We can be differentiated because we have democracy.

UMNO Youth Deputy President and the son-in-law to the Prime Minister, Khairy Jamaluddin said: “I do not understand why the Election Commission Chairman is speculating on the election date.”

In fact, even he haven’t consult the dates with his father-in-law, so how can these other people know.

They had dinner together everyday and yet even he doesn’t know, so how can Tan Sri Abdul Rashid Abdul Rahman knows. He sleeps with the PM’s daughter and if she also don’t know, surely he also don’t know; so how can Rashid know; unless of course she didn’t tell him but told Rashid; but that’s not possible because he’s the husband and the father of her child.

“Stop Speculating,” Khairy asked him and all other politicians.

You see, he never asked him to shut up; but only ask him not to speculate. He’s well mannered and humble. So how can you all say he is lansi, and a lansi chai? Please lah, he’s humble and he’s also jobless; so please have some compassion on him. He’s leng chai and only a little bit humsap, and not mayasap, but little only.

This is an old youtube recording. I picked it up as it is funny. Thanks to Hanief.blogspot.com, he has done a beautiful job slicing and editing this segment.
