Only yesterday we heard that Menteri Besar 2 or the Barisan Nasional MB Zambry Abdul Kadir, telling all Perakians, he is here to serve all races. Now UMNO youth comes along to hold a rally to protect Malay interests and what is dear to the community. I don’t whether other communal parties will organise rallies to protect their kind and what is dear to them.

Quite contrary to what UMNO youth think, there is no disrespect for the Sultan. He is human and bound to make mistakes. Experts on law say he has no rights to dismiss a government run by Pakatan Rakyat. What the people are clamouring for the return of Pakatan Rakyat, a Government they voted for. Is this wrong.

Is the UMNO Youth suggesting the monarchy is an institution only for Malays.

Maybe they can get some views from Dr Zambry.

IPOH, Feb 8 – The mercury is set to rise further in Perak tomorrow with plans for UMNO Youth to hold a rally supporting the constitutional monarchy, in particular Sultan Azlan Shah, much criticised for his role in the transfer of power in the state.

The rally is the first move by Umno to frame this constitutional crisis as a belligerent show of disrespect by Pakatan Rakyat to an institution respected by the Malays.

In this way, they hope to persuade fence-sitters and the apolitical in the community that only Umno-led Barisan Nasional can be counted on to protect Malay interests and what is dear to the community.

The coverage in the main Malay language newspapers today suggest that the approach of driving a wedge between the monarchy and the Opposition led by Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim will intensify.
