Umno Information Chief, Tan Sri Muhammad Muhd Taib is trying to salvage the situation a bit, which saw Mentri Besars deciding to tie up with PAS and even offering the post of Mentri besar to PAS which will not command the majority seats in the state. Selangor, Perak have taken the lead and this makes me wonder where is the President of UMNO and Barisan Nasional, must Menteri Besars take decisions on such important matters like this.

Badawi is responsible not only to UMNO but the rest of the coalition parties, not forgetting the people as he heads the federal government. Can anybody make a wishy washy decision that has no precedence or order – as I see it a Menteri Besar may even decide who the future Prime Minister will be.

I have to blame Badawi for the way he runs the country. It is evident that all politicians either from the states or federal have no respect for him, the Terengganu Mercedes fiasco is one good proof. This never happened under the previous Prime Ministers. Even in the sodomy case that is the talk of the town, he keeps mum, leaving the explanations to the Home Minister and the executive like the Police and the Attorney General’s office. How are we to know that this information is not contrary to what the Prime Minister thinks. If the case turns out to be an embarrassment, it is the Prime Minister who will be blamed, not Hamid.

Come Prime Minister be active and get involved.

Umno’s Offer To Jointly Rule Perak Should Be Approved By Party Leadership

ALOR STAR, July 31 (Bernama) — The move made by Perak Umno to cooperate with PAS in forming a new state government was described as an abrupt development which should get approval from the top leadership.

Umno Information Chief, Tan Sri Muhammad Muhd Taib said it was best if the issue be left to the leaders of both parties to decide.

“If everybody wants to give their views, it will divert from the original objective.

“The issues of politics and forming a government should be set aside. We must first look into the basic issue which is to unite the Muslims community,” he told reporters at the Keda Excellent Service Award presentation, here Thursday.

Muhammad was commenting on the statement made by Perak Umno Liaison head, Datuk Seri Mohd Tajol Rosli Ghazali, inviting PAS to merge with Umno to form a stronger state government as a symbol of Muslim and Malay political unity.

Yesterday, Umno vice-president Datuk Seri Mohd Ali Rustam was also reported as saying that the invitation was a big issue for the party and should be discussed by the Supreme Council.
