Noh’s Top Priority – Enhancing Public Transport Services

PUTRAJAYA, March 24 (Bernama) — Datuk Noh Omar says his top priority as Entrepreneur and Cooperative Development Minister is to enhance public transport services and make them more efficient and effective.

“It is not an easy task but I will definitely give it a shot,” he told reporters after a handing-over of duty ceremony between him and Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin at the ministry here today.

Noh said one of the plans was to review the issuance of taxi permits to ensure only those eligible were given such permits. “I understand the plight of taxi drivers. I used to be a taxi driver myself and I drove an illegal taxi. My father was also a taxi driver. We will study their needs,” he said.

What ever you may say of Badawi’s new set up, one cannot deny he got the right man for the Entrepreneur and Cooperative Development Minister, an ex illegal Taxi Driver.

Relax all public transport users, here is the man to make your lives more tolerant and really enjoy traveling. But, wait, what if our Datuk wants to re-live his old life, and decides to head a pack of illegal taxi drivers and issue a permit for every Dick and Tom who wants to use his car profitably and earn a few extra bucks on the sly to beat the cost of petrol. With one stroke of his pen the whole system will be revitalised. He may just do that!
