Any of the Indians, there are 5 in the PR set up, would like to be a froggie. Or would they want to do a “Hee” as done by the DAP member.

First they used money to get members to deflect and now it is the trick to fight for Indian progress.

I hope the Indian leaders would think before attempting to do a suicidal move to move over to Barisan Nasional.

KUALA KANGSAR, Feb 6 (Bernama) — The Barisan Nasional welcomes any State Assemblyman from the opposition to cross over as it is the best way to bring progress to the Indian community in Perak, said Perak Umno Liaison deputy chairman Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.
This was in view of the fact that none of the existing BN Assemblymen represented the MIC, PPP and IPF, said Ahmad Zahid, who is also the Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department.
“The BN door is always open but there are no conditions. We are not giving conditions and we don’t want to be given conditions (in appointing Exco members)…but they too have considerations to develop their ethnic group and the best way is to be together with us,” he said.

“If that’s where we are and we want to keep it that way, than stop kidding ourselves that we have a workable parliamentary democracy,” quipped Zaid.
Zaid is not the only legal authority to have labeled the Perak political imbroglio as a legal and constitutional crisis.
Other legal experts like the president of the National Human Rights Society (Hakam) Malik Imtiaz and former UN special rapporteur for judicial independence Param Cumaraswamy had also voiced similar sentiments.

Najib is not the Prime Minister yet, can you imagine what will happen if he is the PM. I fear for this country and its future.

KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 4 – All Pakatan Rakyat lawmakers staged a walkabout of the Dewan Rakyat approximately an hour into Finance Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak’s speech when winding-up the debate on the 2009 Budget this evening.

Speaking to reporters outside the House while Najib continued with his speech on the federal government’s economic stimulation package, Opposition Leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said they protested against Najib’s “arrogant manner” in prohibiting them from speaking up during his speech.

Anwar added that the Dewan Rakyat Speaker, Tan Sri Pandikar Amin Mulia, had even asked Najib if he would give way for the Opposition leader to rebut his announcements and Najib had stated “no.”

“If that is the case, what is the benefit for us to remain inside?” queried Anwar.

The top leaders from the PR coalition further accused Najib, who is also the Deputy Prime Minister, of being “dishonest”.

Komathy: Would it be safe to assume that the Prime Minister would have consulted the AG before making the statement?

Mohd Yusof: Yes, but the statement would not be binding on the AG.

Komathy: Yes, I know it would not be binding on the AG, but he is also the legal adviser to the Government. Would it not be safe to assume that the Prime Minister would have consulted him first?

At this juncture, judge S.M. Komathy Suppiah questioned the DPP if it was true that the AG was the legal adviser to the Prime Minister, to which he replied: “Yes”.

Mohd Yusof: The Prime Minister is also a politician. If people ask him, he would say something that people would want to hear in good faith.

Komathy: But it would be reasonable to assume that he would not make a statement without consulting the AG?

Mohd Yusof: That would be speculation. I don’t wish to speculate.

Komathy: But he is the Prime Minister.

Mohd Yusof: He’s not legally competent to make a statement which would give rise to such an expectation.

There is one small item that escaped Hisham. Will Najib be a good leader with some baggage encumbering him? Altantuya, rest in peace.

To another question, Hishammuddin, who is Education Minister, said they were in good hands with Najib as the incoming leader.

He believed the deputy Prime Minister was in the right position to take over as he had dealt with many issues and was experienced and had the ability, support and confidence of those who he was going to lead.

“It is incumbent on those around him – Youth, Puteri and Wanita – and also Barisan component parties to give him the support. A man is only effective if he has the support of those who are going to struggle with him in the coalition,” he said.

As for the party polls, Najib has been securing all nominations for the Umno presidency. He looks set to win the post uncontested over the weekend when more divisions meet and make their nominations.

The MIC has postponed the elections for its top posts, except that of president, to September next year, according to party sources.

They reveal that the decision to move the party polls from June to September was taken at a meeting of the MIC central working committee (CWC), the party’s highest decision-making body, earlier this month.

However, the election for the post of president would go on as scheduled in late February next year, the sources told Bernama.
Long-serving president Datuk Seri S. Samy Vellu, who took over the leadership of the party in 1979 and has retained the post for 10 consecutive terms, is the only candidate so far to announce his intention to contest the top post.

There was no political interference in the High Court’s decision here to acquit and discharge political analyst Abdul Razak Abdullah Baginda of abetting in the murder of Mongolian Altantuya Shaariibuu, said Mongolia’s Honorary Consulin Malaysia Datuk Syed Abdul Rahman Alhabshi.

He said all quarters should respect the court’s decision to free the executive director of the Malaysian Strategic Research Centre of the abetment charge.

“We got justice today, but whether the justice will be respected by the world, only God knows,” he told reporters after the court handed the decision.
Abdul Razak, 48, was acquitted and discharged of abetting two members of the police force in the murder of Altantuya, then 28, between 9.54am on Oct 18 and 9.45pm on Oct 19, 2006.

There is a saying “put out to pasture” meaning, to make someone stop working at their job because they are too old to be useful. No disrespect for old people but Mahathir should realise this, enjoy his retirement, and let the young carry on with their lives.

Zaid had also suggested that the fall of Datuk Seri Abdullah Badawi was the result of Dr Mahathir prevailing.

TRONOH, Oct 16 — Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad today brushed off talk that he will be the de facto prime minister, standing behind Datuk Seri Najib Razak as alleged by former de facto law minister Datuk Zaid Ibrahim.

Describing the talk as “a lot of nonsense”, Dr Mahathir said Najib was his own man and there was no assurance that the deputy prime minister would listen to whatever the former prime minister said.

“I also thought that when Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi was appointed (prime minister), he would perhaps consult me on some issues, but as you see he never asked me anything. In fact, he reversed all that I did,” he told reporters after delivering a public lecture at Universiti Teknologi Petronas, here today.

Lucky he did not mention how many Police personnel contacted the contagious diseases. Knowing Chow Kit area we can assume what the disease was.

The second part is great. Police officers frightened of criminals.

Hamid, please think before you speak. Your low level intelligence has been subjected to scrutiny in the past, when you made some stupid comments – don’t you want to improve yourself.

KUALA LUMPUR: A police beat base in the Chow Kit area of downtown Kuala Lumpur was closed down because it was in a location that was considered unsafe, said Home Minister Datuk Seri Syed Hamid Albar.

In a written reply to Dr Lo’ Lo’ Mohamad Ghazali (PAS-Titiwangsa), Syed Hamid said the beat base was located in a dirty area where there was a possibility of being exposed to contagious diseases.

The presence of criminals also posed a threat to the safety of police officers, he said.

Lo’ Lo’ had asked why the beat base on Jalan Haji Taib was closed considering the high number of vice-related activities in the area, as well as what kind action had been taken by the police to curb such activities.

Syed Hamid said that the police were looking for a new location to build a police beat base that would be able to give “guaranteed and continued service to the public.”
