zorro-unmasked: HITLER YOUTH REVISITED?

HITLER YOUTH REVISITED?

The Hitler Youth (HJ – Hitlerjugend) was originally established in 1922 as the Jungsturm Adolf Hitler . Based in Munich, Bavaria, it served to train and recruit future members of the Sturmabteilung (or “Storm Regiment”), the adult paramilitary wing of the Nationalsozialistische Deutsche Arbeiterpartei or NSDAP, the German Nazi Party.

In 1925, when the Nazi Party had been refounded, the membership grew to over 5,000. Five years later, national HJ membership stood at 25,000. By the end of 1932 (a few weeks before the Nazis came to power) it was at 107,956. At the end of 1933, the HJ had 2,300,000 members. Much of these increases came from the more or less forcible merger of other youth organizations with the HJ. (The sizable Evangelische Jugend, the Evangelical youth organisation of 600,000 members, was integrated on February 18, 1934).

By December 1936, HJ membership stood at just over five million. That same month, HJ membership became mandatory, under the Gesetz über die Hitlerjugend law. This legal obligation was re-affirmed in 1939 with the Jugenddienstpflicht and HJ membership was required even when it was opposed by the member’s parents. From then on, most of Germany’s teenagers belonged to the HJ. By 1940, it had eight million members. Later war figures are difficult to calculate, since massive conscription efforts and a general call-up of boys as young as ten years old meant that virtually every young male in Germany was, in some way, connected to the HJ. Only about 10 to 20% were able to avoid joining.

The HJ was organized into corps under adult leaders, and the general membership comprised boys aged fourteen to eighteen. From 1936, membership of the HJ was compulsory for all young German men. The HJ was also seen as an important stepping stone to future membership of the elite Schutzstaffel (the SS). Members of the HJ were particularly proud to be bestowed with the single Sig Rune (victory symbol) by the SS. The SS utilized two Sig Runes as their mark, and this gesture served to symbolically link the two groups.

The HJ was organized into local cells on a community level. Such cells had weekly meetings at which various Nazi doctrines were taught by adult HJ leaders. Regional leaders typically organized rallies and field exercises in which several dozen Hitler Youth cells would participate. The largest HJ gathering usually took place annually, at Nuremberg, where members from all over Germany would converge for the annual Nazi Party rally.

The HJ maintained training academies comparable to preparatory schools. They were designed to nurture future Nazi Party leaders, and only the most radical and devoted HJ members could expect to attend.

SO WHAT HAS THIS DESPICABLE ORGANISATION GOT TO DO WITH

MALALYSIA – TRULY ASIA?
Last Sunday I met an old buddy at the PROTES Rally. We were colleagues at both MNCs I worked at after I left the teaching profession. We exchanged pleasantries until I put the final question: I never expect a person like you to be in a rally like this?

Like many of us, Sam (yes that is the name I coined for him, and it has stuck) is not happy with what is happening behind our backs. He told me that his daughter had to attend a full day orientaion at the UiTM. He gave me a gist of what his daughter reported transpired. He gave me the idea that it was a full day indoctrination. The weight of Sam’s concern did not hit me until I received an email on AZLY RAHMAN’s article below:

UMNO’s Latest Psy-War Materials Exposed
by Azly Rahman

(NOTE: This is an email I received from a reader exposing the latest brain washing
tricks deployed by UMNO’s apparatus called Biro Tatanegara(BTN). Mind you BTN is
100% funded by tax payer’s money)

Biro Tatanegara. Does it ring a bell? Government propaganda or honest student
development programme? For those who aren’t aware of it, Biro Tatanegara or BTN for
short is under the Jabatan Perdana Menteri and it has several modules which all public
university students have to attend in the name of “Student Development”.

On the 6th of July 2008 in UiTM Shah Alam, there were three separate talks being held
under BTN with the first one being titled “Pendidikan”, second one titled “Ancaman
Keselamatan Negara” and the third one titled, “Patriotisma”. Smell anything funny yet?

No? Read on. You won’t even have to smell it after you are done reading this. It’ll be
stuffed down your throat.

I would like to only focus on the first speaker, Dr. Idris bin Md. Noor. He was supposed
to talk about education as that was the title of his speech, but the content was far
different. He first went on with the usual introductions but in less than a few minutes, he
suddenly touched on the forum on the discussion of social contract in Malaysia that the
BAR council organized.

He criticized it with all his heart, saying no one should discuss about it as it is
unquestionable. Fair enough, I thought at first. Freedom of speech right? But what if he
suddenly accuses the “Malay” speaker in the forum, which I’m guessing is Farish A.
Noor, as a traitor to the Malay race as a whole?

And while he was browsing through his files on the laptop which was projected on the
big screen, it was no surprise for me that I saw files entitled “Ketuanan Melayu”. He also
then went on about the Malay’s obsession with magic and ghosts, he said that it is all
wrong beliefs through the perspective of Islam because if they really could use magic and
other dark arts for fighting, then they should kill Karpal Singh with it.

There are so many quotable sentences, if only I could remember it all. He even said,
“Kalau ular dengan India depan mata, ketuk India dulu.” He then started to become more
impassioned in his speech towards the end, like someone campaigning for a political seat
yet failed, and resorted to a multi-purpose hall with bumiputra students. He said so many
atrocious things that I will list them down in point form.

-Explained how the Malays aren’t racist but others are racist towards us.

-Bangsa Malaysia does not exist, neither does Malaysian Chinese and Indians, only in the
strict Malay, Chinese and Indians. (Interestingly, behind a booklet provided to us, one of
the objectives of the programme is to produce a -”Bangsa Malaysia”. Obviously, he was
ignorant).

-Bahasa Malaysia does not exist, it is Bahasa Melayu.

-Nothing wrong with waving the Keris.

-Bumiputra hanya 55% di Malaysia, give birth more people!

-The University and Colleges Act was partly made to ensure a Malay Vice-Chancellor in
Universities which should be the way.

-Blogs are “berdosa” or sinful.

-Christians will not like Muslims.

But that isn’t even the best part. The best part is, he showed a short film on the dangers of
Zionism and the illegal occupation of Palestine which was probably the only part of the
speech I agreed with and I thought to myself this could be the only fact of the speech but
surprise, surprise, at the end of the film, there was a montage of so-called Zionist
supporters with the pictures of Anwar Ibrahim, Tian Chua, Teresa Kok, Hishamuddin
Rais and Ezam Md. Nor.

Then a question popped up in my head. Is Ezam still a Zionist supporter since he is in
UMNO now? Does that mean the government has a Zionist supporter as well as the
opposition? And expectedly, the speaker was being more anti-semitic than anti-zionist.
He even explained how the Pakatan Rakyat ruled states are all going down the drain and
he says, “this is what you get if you vote for the opposition!” He criticized Anwar
Ibrahim and his colleagues so much along with Pakatan Rakyat while being completely
oblivious towards Barisan Nasional’s mistakes. As if they have perfect policies.

This was supposed to be a speech touching on education and look how it ended up. It did
not even smell anything of education. It was a speech that was not meant for national
unity at all. How could it be when you spread hate?

I could only sit and ponder quietly while all this was happening. But the speech was not
the saddest part. The saddest part was that the majority of students in the hall were
cheering him on. I will type out part of the lyrics that were supplied to us, entitled,

“Warisan”.
Anak Kecil main api
Terbakar hatinya yang sepi
Air mata darah bercampur keringat
Bumi dipijak milik orang
Nenek moyang kaya raya
Tergadai seluruh harta benda
Akibat engketa sesamalah kita
Cinta lenyap di arus zaman ini
Indahnya bumi kita ini
Warisan berkurun lamanya
Hasil mengalir ke tangan yang lain
Pribumi merintih sendiri
Melayukan gagah di nusantara.

Who were those words referring to? Foreign powers or non-malays?

Perfect welcome to the new intake of University Students. Please spread this to others.
People need to know.
I know you should.

This a hard hitting Q & A session arranged by Malaysiakini, with Samy Vellu on the position of Tamil schools in Malaysia. Some of earlier assumptions by Samy Vellu is just history and without evidence, let’s hope what Samy says is correct. But after the Ninth Malaysia Plan, when Samy was in the thick and thin of all that was happening in the Government, it is hard to believe he did not raise objections, and as a gentleman he should admit his weakness if he had not done so. But knowing him, as someone who never says sorry, he is still the ‘Suthal King’ or spin master trying to evade responsibilities.

Under the Ninth Malaysia plan, development allocation per student per month is National School RM33.30, Tamil School RM10.55, and Chinese School RM4.50 per student. Back in 1949 it was English $188.88, Malay $66.84, Tamil $55.84, Chinese $8.72.

When referred to this Samy was quick to point out, Tamil schools were small and not fitted with facilities like laboratories and therefore the allocation was small. He also said once the facilities were upgraded, the government will raise the allocation per student.

When Malaysiakini asked how could the facilities be obtained when there is no allocation, Samy’s answer is vague. The allocation is done according to the language of the school and it is nothing to do with facilities. Of course Samy hides behind technical reasons rather than discrimination.

There must be honesty from a leader, the people understand when Government enforces certain rules based on language, and the leader, besides appealing, can’t do much but keep repeating the same request. We don’t expect Samy to call the Education Minister for a duel to settle matters.

You can read the portion of the allocation Q & A hereunder, and comment on my observations. At one stage Samy refers to people sitting in the house and question others. Well it is true, but then he was elected to defend the Indians and if things are known, I don’t see the rationale, why he can’t be questioned.

Under the Ninth Malaysia Plan the development allocation for per student per month according to school is:

* National school RM33.30 per student

* Tamil school RM10.55 per student

* Chinese school RM4.50 per student

Way back in 1949, during the British days, the allocation was:

* English school $188.88 per student

* Malay school $66.84 per student

* Tamil school $55.84 per student

* Chinese school $8.72 per student

Is there discrimination now?

The reason the allocations are made as such is because the schools are very small and not fitted with all the facilities like laboratories and so forth.

The moment all these facilities are in the school instantly the government will raise the allocation per student.

How will they obtain all the facilities when there is inadequate allocation?

The allocation is not given – that is just how much the government spends on a child. The government spends more money on a child who attends a school that is fully facilitated.

If the school doesn’t have more than two classrooms then the government will spend much less on a student who goes to that school.

But the allocation is not given on the basis of the kind of school a child attends i.e. a fully equipped school or less equipped school. It is designated according to language stream schools.

I won’t call this discrimination because there may be many technical reasons to it. If there is discrimination then the Chinese must fight for it.

Every year, the estimation is done with various requirements. If I ask for reasons, the ministry will come up with reasons.

They won’t tell me just because we are Indians, they won’t give us fair allocations. This is not that type of government. If it was, it won’t be this developed today

The education minister has always obligated to do the right thing; he did not go around telling people not to give to Indians.

Is not this the reason Tamil schools are in such a mess?

Tamil schools are not in a mess as it has been said by people who simply say and don’t do anything for the school!

We spend millions every year to print books, promote the education and we see the students get happy!

You think it comes just like that! That is the initiatives and the people who don’t put the initiative are the people who sit at home and question others! That doesn’t happen!

Is this discrimination carried out in pursuit of the ‘ultimate objective’ – to get rid of all Tamil schools?

I don’t think Tamil schools or Indian fellows can be finished off by anybody.

Whether he wants to believe it or not, Muhyiddin can wave goodbye to his dream of being second in command in UMNO come December. The Gods have spoken, and 500 UMNO members gave a standing ovation to Badawi after the announcement that he will hand over the reign to Najib in 2010.

With this one announcement, Badawi has dashed to pieces the ambitions of Najib, Razaleigh, and Muhyiddin. Najib will never see the day when he will be handed over the premiership, Razaleigh and Muhyiddin will carry on as usual. I wonder whether the last 2 have enough grass root support to overcome the decision of Badawi.

But the biggest loser is still Najib. He was so cocksure that he will be number 1 in a matter of time, but Badawi is smarter than him. According to Badawi, Najib will be heading a few more committees and meet heads of foreign countries as well as plan for GE 13. The first lady in waiting Rosmah will be sorely annoyed. Her waiting will be indefinite now, and maybe she was in the wrong line.

What could Badawi do, in the next 2 years which he could not do in the last 5 years. Nothing much. He just wants to be the Prime Minister. Lots of people depend on him and could he disappoint them.

For the people, it is business as usual, for Badawi, his family and friends another 2 years of happy harvesting. The only hope is, in December the UMNO members have a change of heart, read through the manoeuvring of Badawi and throw him out, but they are more happy giving a standing ovation to him. Sigh.

Muhyiddin: Leave it to Umno members to decide on leadership
http://thestar.com.my/news/story.asp?file=/2008/7/11/nation/21799320&sec=nation
TOKYO: Some people consider the succession date in 2010 as too long, Umno vice-president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said.

“Some have expressed concern that if the duration is that long the situation will not become more convincing. This needs to be taken into account,” he said.

He said there were party members who believed that it would be better for the members themselves to decide on the party leadership.

“But never mind, the elections start in October; so at that time each Umno division will reveal whether they like the decision or that they have their own views,” he said.

Muhyiddin, who is leading a six-day trade and investment mission to Japan, was commenting on Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi’s announcement to hand over the posts of Umno president and Barisan Nasional chairman to Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak in June 2010.

Muhyiddin said he hoped that any decision made by the Umno supreme council would not stop others from making decisions deemed best for them.

He said that if Umno was still practising the democratic system, it surely would not prevent party members from voicing out on what was best for them and the party.

He said decisions made by the supreme council should be respected.

But no less important were the views of each Umno member representing the branches and divisions. They have wants, they have aspirations, they also have hopes and expectations,” he said.

Asked whether he had decided on the post he would be contesting, Muhyiddin replied: “We have to see the members’ reaction to the supreme council’s decision first. My decision is not important.” – Bernama
