MBI Ipoh is so user friendly. Their only concern is for the people of the city. You want a restaurant for your eating pleasure, we have allowed Haji Yahaya to built one in the middle of the road. The chaps who complain about are jealous, jealous Haji Yahaya is doing well. Next, you want a public toilet, what, come again, near the Town Hall, no problem, we are arranging with Haji Ibrahim, the younger brother of Haji Yahaya, to operate the toilet. Good earnings you know.
MBI believes in ‘menghasilkan mutu kehidupan yang lebih selesa dan seimbang serta meninggikan taraf hidup bagi semua penduduk dalam kawasan Majlis’ Haji Tan is next now. He wants to open up a satay stall, at the front of the Datuk Bandar’s house. This is going too far, what impression will the people get when visiting his house. This is a definite no.
COMPLAINT AGAINST RESTAURANT HAJI YAHYA
For the past 6 months the tax payers of Ipoh city raised many complaints against the Restaurant Haji Yahya which is situated in middle of Ipoh City. The complaint was raised many times to Majlis Bandaraya Ipoh and no actions were taken.
The restaurant owner builds the restaurant on top of the walk a way which constructed for public conveniences was utilized by the restaurant owner. The restaurant owner extended the restaurant without the approval from the city planning unit.
Public decided to put it off, hoping things would get better but till do no reply letter received from the MBI and the restaurant yet to receive enforcement department visit.
The public feels that, since the restaurant has started the operation on top of the walk a way never bothers about the safety of the customers and others. Examples of which the public refer as follows: customers will park the car at the road shoulder which is on top of yellow lane to buy or to have breakfast and this will cause traffic congestion in the morning of in the peak hours. The food supplied will not be a healthy enough because the restaurant located at the road side and it’s an open concept restaurant.
This issue also was raised to the attention of NGO and the concern NGO already send the letter to the Datuk Bandar’s Office asking for and explanation. At the same time I also received the complaint in my political office advising me to take action against the restaurant.
I am considering what I should do about this complaint because the location of the restaurant comes under my constituency. I’m sure some people would like to rise and wants to clear the doubt over MBI administration for having double standard in giving approval for restaurant at road side. I believe we will just think this situation thoroughly through and then decide.
