MIC The Husband, Wife The Indians, OR MIC The Wife, Husband The Indians

Indian husbands don’t bash wives today. I don’t know about Sam, he is so confident that he has made a wise, acceptable, statement. What if the rolls had been reversed, as what is happening now, do the wives keep mum.

His knowledge of wife/husband relationship must be updated.

The only capable people are the Indian women. I wish them well, and step aside. Dear ladies the ball is in your court. Best of luck and wishes.

MIC, Indians ties ‘like husband and wife’

The relationship between the Indian Malaysian community and MIC is like husband and wife, according to party president S Samy Vellu today.

In this relationship, the husband should not ask what the wife has done for him, said the embattled veteran politician.

samy vellu penang campaign 260208 discomfort“The wife prepares morning tea, lunch and dinner for him, cleaning, taking care of the children. Whatever happens in the house have been taken care of by the wife, so the husband shouldn’t question what she has done for him.

“I have filed it (manifesto) in my own file. If I remain in the government, I will bring it up from time to time to tell the government what it has promised, which have to be done,” he said.
There was heavy presence of police throughout his visit, possibly to deter incidences where Samy Vellu was accosted by angry voters from reoccurring.

Samy: Not shoe, they threw atomic bomb

Samy: Not shoe, they threw atomic bomb

Missiles thrown at Samy Vellu, do not bother him. He is a veteran and seasoned campaigner and what shoes, screwdriver, or for that matter an atomic bomb could possibly do. But two things are very clear, people abused him, the degree of abuse only known to him, there was heavy Police protection, a well liked leader need not have to have protection.
Another pertinent point is his MIC "followers", is there a better name for them, surround him, and people are shoved aside when they want to meet the President. But the fact remains if you are escorted by a Hugh group of Police and MIC "followers" there is something wrong.
Secondly he was marooned inside his car for 30 minutes, that is bad, it is worst than an atomic bomb. But what irks me is that, if he is not arrogant, a know all, and treats the people as equals without being the Kangani or Mandore, I don’t think the people will react this way.
One other salient point missed out often is, if he had been there for the Indians all the time, meaning a leader of self sacrifice, jumping up every time an Indian is maligned, including Parliament where Indians are referred to as Klings and the like, the present day Indians who are looking for new leadership in Hindraf and others would not have come about. A person who stands by while Indians are castigated cannot and should not identify himself as I am another Indian now - this close proximity  is there because of election. Earlier, it was all the Malaysian Indians are okay, even in New Delhi among other Indians, makes you thing he is not Sami Vellu but Sam the migrant from elsewhere besides India. To be a leader one must identify oneself with Indian masses, in times of trouble, and if you don’t,  you cannot be truly classified as a Malaysian Indian. And this becomes a heavy burden when you are the only one who could have represented the Indians in time of distress.
This Sam failed to do, and in a way I appreciate Sothinathan and Devamani, who stood up for a cause and were castigated by fellow Parlimentarians, while Sam was talking in private to Badawi and Najib. So at present these two leaders are not there to protect you in times of abuse by the Indians. What you sow you reap.
Things are not pleasant for other Indian leaders as well. In IRC or Indian Recreation Club in Ipoh, things were not rosy for another MIC leader, and also an MCA incumbent and Mentri Besar Perak. DAP Kulasegeran has this to say.

Samy: Not shoe, they threw atomic bomb

Beh Lih Yi | Feb 26, 08 6:34pm

MIC president S Samy Vellu today denied that shoes were thrown at him during a recent visit to Penang.

Quizzed on this at a press conference in Butterworth, he quipped: "They threw an atomic bomb at me…I threw the atomic (bomb) back."

image However, he conceded that an argument erupted between him and the local Indian community when he visited Perai, in Butterworth, two weeks ago.

"Nothing happened. They didn’t throw a screwdriver at me. If they threw a screwdriver, I will take the screwdriver and use it for my car," he said, drawing laughter from local MIC leaders who were present.

Samy Vellu was met by reporters at the Batu Kawan MIC election operations room - one of his three stops at Indian-majority seats during a one-day visit to Penang.

He was asked to comment on rumours that an Indian woman had thrown a shoe at him when

he was speaking to the crowd in Perai, which is an Indian-majority seat, on Feb 16.

According to rumours, the shoe did little to unnerve the seasoned politician, who purportedly replied to the crowd that he was not afraid of an atomic bomb, let alone a shoe. This was said to have resulted in a second shoe being thrown at him.

The media had reported that some 60 people blocked Samy Vellu’s car while he was leaving the function and criticised him for not helping the Indian community.

It was also reported that the MIC president was stuck in the car for about 30 minutes before being whisked away to safety by policemen.

Argument over arrests

Commenting further on the incident, the 72-year-old politician said there was an argument over the mass arrests in connection with the ‘roses’ demonstration organised by the Hindu Rights Action Force (Hindraf).

image "They wanted me to tell the prime minister to release all of them, I said I can’t do that because I don’t have the power, so that’s the argument.

"Of course during the argument, somebody ‘bang, bang, bang’, all ‘talk, talk, talk’. We all human beings, when someone gets angry, they lose their heads," he said.

On that note, Samy Vellu promised that he would not prevent the people from approaching him to air their views.

"When I come here. I am an Indian, they are also Malaysian Indians. I have to allow them to talk to me, I don’t want anyone to block (the people)," he said.

Soon after this, an Indian trader was reportedly stopped by MIC members from approaching Samy Vellu during his brief visit to a market in Perai at his second stop in Penang.

According to eyewitnesses, the man who tried to approach Samy Vellu was shoved aside - and almost fell - while police personnel told the man to raise the issue at a nearby school hall, where the MIC president was holding a meet-the-people session.

Heavy police presence

Samy Vellu was escorted by a heavy police presence and flanked by MIC state leaders throughout his visit.

In Batu Kawan, at least six patrol cars and about 30 policemen accompanied him throughout his 45-minute programme with some 200 Indians from a residential area there.

image Security was stepped up when he arrived in Perai, where a truck of light strike force personnel were also deployed to prevent any untoward incident.

The hall where he held his meet-the-people session was half-empty and some of those who turned up were also spotted in Batu Kawan earlier.

On his way out of the hall, Samy Vellu stopped several times when the locals tried to seek his help to solve their problems.

During his last stop at Bagan Dalam, a woman and her family tried in vain to seek the MIC president’s help to secure the release of her son who is being held under the Emergency Ordinance.

According to eyewitnesses, the woman later hurled abusive words at the MIC leader as Samy Vellu was getting into his car.

Election Manifesto 2008 And Pathological lies

What is the point of releasing a new 2008 manifesto to promise the people this and that, while the Malaysians are robbed by unscrupulous scum of the gutters to benefit some well heeled politician and cronies of the ruling party. It is ironic on one hand the Government cheats the people by making promises they can’t keep but close one eye to the manipulations of individuals. These individuals commit the heinous crime against Malaysians under the watchful eye of the Government, which stands as a guardian for wrongs committed against the people. Without battling an eyelid the Government then wants the people to vote for them to continue robbing the people at will. What justice is this. To aggravate the matter the Government confirms the whole project is cancelled when the people knew about the scheme. But now the project gets the go ahead. Is this not plain robbery. Is not the Government acting as a proxy for Muhammad son of Muhammad and Anuar Zaini.

Please read this.
Malaysia Today: Your source of independent news - While we go to the polls, they rip us off in our sleep

Practically the whole country is focused on the coming general election due to be held on 8 March 2008. But while we look the other way, distracted by the intense election campaigning, some parties are quietly about to make RM4 billion from a property development that involves a piece of land belonging to the rakyat.

THE CORRIDORS OF POWER

Raja Petra Kamarudin

Practically the whole country is focused on the coming general election due to be held on 8 March 2008. But while we look the other way, distracted by the intense election campaigning, some parties are quietly about to make RM4 billion from a property development that involves a piece of land belonging to the rakyat. And rakyat here means 26 million Malaysians, 11 million or so who are registered voters. Sadly though, only 8 million who will come out to vote this election while the other 3 million will just stay home to watch television.

But it will not be 26 million Malaysians who will profit from this development. It will be handful of people who walk in the corridors of power. And these handful of people are the man with two Muhammad’s in his name who would like to be Malaysia’s future Deputy Prime Minister, Anuar Zaini who runs the Malaysian government’s propaganda machinery also known as Bernama, and the cronies to the powers-that-be.

In June last year, it was reported that a company owned by Hong Leong’s Quek Leng Chan will be taking over the land which the Universiti Malaysia sits and will turn into a new township. The university would then be relocated to Sepang.

There was a big hue and cry and the government flatly denied such a thing was in the cards.

Everything went quiet for awhile. Part of the objection to this proposal was because of the ’sacred’ status and sentimental value of Malaysia’s first university. But what was even more of an objection was the fact that a Chinese company was going to become the beneficiary to a very valuable piece of government asset.

To quell the outrage, the government quickly denied such a thing was being planned. But the denial was a lie and merely meant to quieten things down for awhile so that alternative plans could be put into place.

Realising that the university land was a ‘goldmine’, other parties jumped in and last week they announced that the university would sell off 27.5 acres of its under-utilised land for a price of RM312 million or for a value of RM200 million plus a share of the developer’s profit, whichever is higher. However, what was not revealed was that the Selangor State Government, which is supposed to be a joint-venture partner, would get only 10% of the deal while 90% will go to Muhammad son of Muhammad and Anuar Zaini. The state government company is merely a front to give an impression that this is a government deal and to avoid any more controversy while in actual fact certain individuals are going to profit from the entire arrangement.

Yes, while Malaysians sleep, while Malaysians get distracted by the 8 March 2008 general election, those connected to those who walk in the corridors of power are going to make billions while the government will get pittance in return. Is this not one more of so many reasons to cut Barisan Nasional down to size by denying it its 92% hegemony in Parliament?

It is time Malaysians demonstrate outrage and shout loudly, “NO MORE!” And this demonstration must come in the form of no longer allowing Barisan Nasional a landslide victory in the coming general election and by denying it its 92% hegemony in Parliament.

Badawi: Sleep With Me

This is the message in Malaysia Indru, the sister publication of Malaysiakini in Tamil. I found a few incidents not reported in any alternate media and I am taking the liberty to summarise and translate the contents for Malaysiakini readers.
The heading itself is very appropriate, Badawi says, work with me, sleep with me. This is unique the people sleeping as he does in the midst of working.
The above was exhibited along with 4 pictures of a sleeping Badawi during nomination day in Permatang Pauh.
In another poster, the wordings were don’t be cheated by Islam Hadhari, with Badawi placing his hands on Michael Yeoh the James Bond girl.
Another item is on Samy Vellu’s actual birthday. Was it March 8 or June 20. This was the objection raised in Sungei Siput when nomination papers were submitted. Samy had previously declared March 8 as his birthday but nomination paper shows March 8. Samy Vellu’s My Kad shows June 20 1937 and the objection was overruled.
The article ends with the question whose birth date is March 8 then.
Malaysia indru the Tamil version of Malaysiaini started publication just 2 days ago and now that the Tamil newspapers only carry Government propaganda, please read the free Tamil version and introduce it to others.

Hobson’s Choice

Hobson’s choice — meaning, no choice at all.Read carefully Najib’s statement, which says there wont be fuel price hike after March 8, correct, correct, correct, but if this happens after April 8, correct, correct, correct, he will say the promise was for after March 8 not April 8.

Government announcements are bandied about to get voters, but whether they will be fulfilled, the people face a Hobson’s choice.

No Fuel Price Hike, Says Najib

KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 25 (Bernama) — Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak today dismissed assumptions of a hike in fuel price after the March 8 general election.

“No, it doesn’t necessarily mean price hike,” he said when asked if there would be a rise in fuel price after the polls following the increase in fuel subsidies paid by the Government last year.

Inflation And Corruption

One of the often repeated accusation against Badawi is, he has not done enough to eradicate corruption. Do you remember the 18 sharks who got away, and till today these sharks are around stacking away money that does not belong to them. Another classic example is the portly lady Rafidah, with the AP scheme, Badawi had to only raise a finger to take action, and it would have been a moral booster for him and others in the Government, besides deterring others from being corrupt. He missed a golden opportunity. So all this talk of without fear and favour is akin to the sun rising in the west. An earlier posting of mine also relates to corruption and Rafidah.
I hope Badawi won’t go back on his promise to provide land for places of worship, not only to replace damaged temples but for application for new places of worship irrespective of the religion concerned, if there is a need. Please read this.
I was in the wet market this morning buying eggs. The prices have gone up, sometimes by much as 10 cents. I was commenting on this, and the lady, a grandmother of at least 70 years old, simply said, don’t complain, BN will raise the prices more after the elections. I remembered posters by Pas and PKR asking voters to vote them to keep down prices of toll, petrol milk etc. Maybe they do have a point.
clipped from www.malaysiakini.com
Against charges that Abdullah has failed to eradicate corruption as he promised at the last polls, the manifesto said the government would “continue to enforce anti-corruption measures without fear or favour.”
It also touched on complaints from ethnic Indians that the government dominated by Muslim Malays has displayed gross insensitivity by demolishing hundreds of Hindu temples.
The manifesto said the coalition would “ensure provision of reserved land for places of worship” in development areas where many of the shrines and temples have been torn down.
Against complaints over the rising cost of food, it said that subsidised staples like flour, sugar, cooking oil and petrol cost less in Malaysia than in other Southeast Asian countries.
Rising costs have triggered rare public protests in recent months, and the government is preparing the ground for an extremely unpopular overhaul of the fuel subsidies, which are costing more as the price of oil spirals.
