Afraid Of Your Own Shadow

Surprises, surprises and surprises. What a tragedy. A Prime Minister wailing that Hindraf is extremist. Before going further, MIC and its President Samy Vellu, submitted 7 proposals to the Government to improve the lot of the Indians. They were not termed as extremists. Perhaps Hindraf has 18 points, more in number and more complete proposals, if they had reduced it to less than 18 can they be referred to as another extension of MIC.
How can a small group disrupt the elections, is there some special indication that they were going to it. We have had many rallies in Kuala Lumpur, from November last. The latest one was by Bersih, and were they too, planning to disrupt elections. Frankly speaking, none of the rallies have raised fear in the people, contrary the Police have instilled fear in the people, that causes them to shiver in their pants, realising any group gathering can bring on chemical lazed water and tear gas. What a friend tells me any Police in vehicles rushing through the roads causes panic and discomfort to the people in Kuala Lumpur. Who created this.
You wail the democratic process, has been jeopardised, did the group that gathered had no democracy to speak of, they were just trying to give flowers to indicate their innocence in gathering and also to send the message please release the 5 Hindraf chaps in Kamunting. You could have received the flowers and said thank you for their gestures and thereafter decide on the ISA victims. This you did not do.
Disorders or orders the people will come out to vote, the general consensus being the ruling government must have their tails clipped. There is no way you can bring to the attention of problems to the Government unless you rally and gain attention. If the many letters by Hindraf were attended to, suitable replies given and action taken, do you think the people are stupid to rally and get arrested.
How many fights were recorded in the number of rallies held. The only sad point was people lazed with chemical water, tear gassed and dragged away by force by the Police. Did any thought was given to this.
Rallies are resorted to when the Government does not listen. Why must Bersih disturb the Agong if their grouses were attended to. Why must Hindraf gather a group if their grouses were the least, listened to and action/or no action was taken. Our Malaysian culture is slowing changing, Government does not listen, and the other alternative way is to gather and draw attention. By doing so, the Government gets rattled and action is taken. Remember Thaipusam holiday, will it come about without the Hindraf rally.
One relevant point, today was not election day, and whatever action taken by the group will not affect the polls on March 8.
This is just my preamble. R Thanenthiran has explained other things well I believe.

Abdullah lashes out at ‘extremist’ Hindraf

Feb 16, 08 9:44pm

abdullah ahmad badawi pak lah pc 060607 seriousPrime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi today labelled the Hindu Rights Action Force as an extremists group which aimed to disrupt the general election.
According to a Bernama report today, Abdullah said that Hindraf’s illegal assembly in Kuala Lumpur this morning was an attempt to raise fear in the people and disrupt the polls which would be held on March 8.
“People who disrupt the elections do not respect the democratic process. When there is disorder, the people do not come out to vote for fear of getting caught in fights,” he said after attending a function in Yan, Kedah.
hindraf march of roses parliament 160208 defiantsThis morning the police used tear gas and water cannons to disperse about 300 Hindraf supporters who had gathered along Jalan Raja Laut to hand in roses to Abdullah.
Calling it the rose protest, Hindraf had wanted to give the flower to the premier, asking him, among others, to release the five Hindraf leaders presently held under the Internal Security Act.
The police arrested about 200 people, of which all but nine were released later in the day. The nine are held overnight on a one-day remand for failing to disperse despite repeated request
by the police.

He added that the people would definitely not agree with such action aimed at creating chaos in the country.
He also did not rule out the possibility of the Hindraf supporters resorting to blockade roads to prevent people from going to the polls.
Use of children condemned

On the use of children in the illegal assembly, the prime minister said it was most regrettable as the children’s safety was put at risk.
“We regret that they (Hindraf supporters) use children to bring pressure to bear on their demands. This is not the way. The action endangers the children,” he said.
He also said that the authorities would not hesitate to use provisions of the legislation on child protection on those using children at such assemblies.
hindraf kamunting prayer 161207 thanenthiranMeanwhile Hindraf’s national coordinator R Thanenthiran said that he was disappointed with the police action as well as with Abdullah.
A highly-charged Thanenthiran told reporters that Abdullah should not be claiming to be representing the needs and welfare of all races in this country.
“We wanted to have 200 children to peacefully give Abdullah flowers but we were tear-gassed and water-cannoned by police,” he said.
Thanenthiran also said organisers decided it was unsafe for the children to take part in the protest and they were bused away from the scene.

He Is Just The Pretender-

Link here:
This is a letter in Malaysiakini. It is very obvious that Badawi has no sense of direction in ruling this country. It is common to see him goofing up matters. He is so dumb, clueless, not knowing where he is coming from or going to. Anybody would clamour for a decent Prime Minister, somebody who leads the country well. But he sleeps his way through work, depends on others to make decisions, dish out benefits as if there is no tomorrow and at the same time telling the people, he has got big ears which don’t function because of defect.
When the situation gets hot he runs away overseas and how many times have people waited for him to make decisions on important matters, which never come. If at all it comes, it is a timid reaction assuming semua-nya OK. The country was going down hill from the time he took over. The first test was Toyo the Menteri Besar of Selangor, he should have been many moons ago got rid off  for his corruption and his tendency to make the state his playground to do things as he wishes. When damage to the environment was observed, by Badawi himself, what did he do. He became angry and thats it, NFA.
Rafidah should have been removed for her AP mistakes. Now she is playing up her profile, and wants to serve some more.
When his deputy was involved in some scandalous deals, suspicion of involvement with a foreign woman, a Prime Minister should act. Has he commented so far on the involvement of his deputy.
The Parliamentarians treat it as a coffee shop, no decorum whatsoever, the Speaker a fool who incidentally was the first of the kind that came from a elected member, racist remarks, demeaning woman, closing one eye, building mansions without approval, all these go unnoticed by him. Is it because of the single worry that these crooks won’t support him if action is taken, or he does not care the country can go to the dogs earning the nice epithet “half-past six government”.
You can go on elaborating. There is no end. But Malaysians can’t be fooled. His shortcomings are shown to cheat the people and carry on with his own agenda to attain benefits for him, his family, and cronies. He does not care two hoots if the country is on the decline, he just wants his satisfaction, HE IS THE BEST PRETENDER.

Trust Pak Lah at your own risk

Concerned Malaysian | Feb 15, 08 3:39pm

Malaysians, if we want to see a massive change in policies and to wipe-out inefficiency and corruption, we - together - need to vote for a new party to rule our government, or at least deny the BN a two-thirds majority.

But before you cast your vote, ask yourself: is our country presently led by a capable prime minister? Does our leader possess a crystal-clear vision? And is he able to establish a solid path for the future for the rakyat?

Our leader, Abdullah, promises everything, yet he accomplishes nothing. Here is a ‘leader’ who acts, not on the basis of firm convictions or a set of well-founded beliefs, but out of expediency and duplicity.

The story of his four-year rule is a story of economic mismanagement, poor public service performance, rampant corruption, rising crime rates, unemployment, inflation, wasteful public expenditures and a humiliating judicial scandal. It will be a major catastrophe for the nation if voters are again deceived by Abdullah’s promises.

Recently, the mainstream newspapers reported the prime minister as saying, ‘It is God’s will that I became the prime minister of Malaysia and I am very conscious that I have to serve the people, although I personally do not benefit even one sen because of this … Some of you can say that I’m not good, you can say whatever. But don’t say that I don’t work. … I work very hard. I really mean it and you know it’.

This seems to illustrate that our prime minister is trying his best to gain the respect of the rakyat after being branded a ‘sleeping prime minister’.

We hear of corridors being opened throughout our country, we hear of the Second Penang Bridge. But we also hear of rampant corruption and abuses of power - we hear that his defence minister and his cronies earned huge commissions from the purchases of two French-made submarines and Russian jet fighters.

And we hear about huge contracts for his son and son-in-law. So do you believe him when he says he did not benefit even a single sen from his position as prime minister? Yes, yes - he did not earn even a single sen. People wanted to give him money, but he didn’t need it. Then why didn’t he report those who wanted to give him money to the Anti-Corruption Agency?

I think only his son, son-in-law, daughter and cronies received money. God only knows, he is still Mr Clean. He has no reason to change

And can you believe what Abdullah says about unity? He appeals to all of us to unite, yet he is solely responsible for the mounting racial tension and religious intolerance in our country. This same person, as president of Umno, allowed Hishamuddin Onn and his son-in-law, Khairy Jamaluddin, to display the most crude form of Malay nationalism - the use of the Malay keris.

This is the same man who unleashed the power of the police on the Indians and used the draconian ISA on Hindraf’s leaders. Beware of a man who promises you everything because such a person delivers nothing. Trust this man at your own risk.

If I asked average men on the street about the promises made in the last election through BN’s manifesto, nine out of 10 would not know what I was talking about. The BN knows that Malaysians suffer from the mudah lupa syndrome. No wonder BN - for every election - can unleash great manifestos full of empty promises.

Malaysians, it’s all in your hands. Your vote will decide the future path of our country.

Elections in Pakistan and Malaysia

Link For Article

What a world of a difference. In Pakistan the President is accused of having lost his mental and physical balance, literally a zombie. In Malaysia children cannot hand over flowers to the Prime Minister. Police use chemical lazed water and tear gas to deter the crowd out on a mission of being nice to the Prime Minister and to show appreciation, but they are arrested. Different rules in different countries. But the background is the same, as both countries are facing elections.
Malaysia too has got its zombies hell bend to be allowed to serve another 5 years. Some of them should have been retired years ago, but these zombies every passing year they get younger and their determination to serve the people gets stronger and stronger. When asked are you not old and have you not have enough, they retort bring on the army and I will face them they say.
The zombies smile, laugh, kiss babies, and would do anything to tell the people they are ordinary human beings. We are here to serve the people, the country, please give us more time. When told that the time was given earlier, they are quick to answer back Rome was not built in a day.
But the people are smarter, they have listened patiently to their boasting, but have memories of the past. They have evidence.

These we have done earlier and in the next years will even do better. The people become deaf.

Saturday, February 16, 2008 (Frontier Province)

With just two days to go for elections, Pakistan Muslim League (N) leader Nawaz Sharif, one of the men who can define the future of the country, has made his strongest ever attack on President Pervez Musharraf.
Speaking to NDTV, Shairf said that Musharraf has lost his mental as well as physical balance. He added that Musharraf must exit office.
On the campaign trail, following his eight-year exile, Sharif also said it’s not yet time to decide upon the opposition’s prime ministerial candidate. In other words, he has not ruled himself out of the race.
Pakistan People’s Party leader Benazir Bhutto’s assassination is still fresh in Sharif and everyone else’s mind as his cavalcade ducks the main highways and crawls quietly through village interiors and back alleys. He knows that every rally is a gamble of life and death.
As the car weaves its way past the ancient city of Taxila to the remote Frontier Province, Sharif pores over the day’s papers and seems satisfied.
He knows that his home turf holds half the seats for Pakistan’s Parliament, and this reminds that he too can be the prime minister.
NDTV: You can’t contest, so can you be PM?
Sharif: The constitution permits me to be PM for six months and then get elected, not that I am looking for prime ministership, but all these things can be decided later.
Sharif’s speeches mainly target the man who put him on a plane, and pushed him out of Pakistan.
The theme song of his campaign is also to pitch Musharraf as the American stooge against his own more manly gumption.
Speaking in a rally, he says, ”Musharraf gets frightened after receiving one call from America. He has not done any good to Pakistan. Nawaz does not take any order from anyone. If India carried out five tests (nuclear), then Pakistan has carried out six.”
Sharif’s single-minded agenda is now to, somehow ensure the exit of President Pervez Musharraf.
Not for him the pragmatic tact or sophisticated nuance of Benazir’s husband, who knows the General may not go anywhere just yet. Instead, here’s Sharif’s Punjabi style bluntness.
NDTV: Do you feel this election will ensure Musharraf’s exit?
Sharif: I don’t know. Every day he comes on TV and says this or that. He looks like a man who has lost his balance.
NDTV: Mental balance?
Sharif: Both mental and physical!
Much depends on what happens when Pakistan votes on Monday.
A good showing in Punjab could change the rules of the game. So far the lion of Punjab, as Sharif is known, has kept to the script. But the question is, once the results are declared, will the lion roar?
What will happen if the results show no clear majority? Who will call the shot then? Will it be Nawaz Sharif or Asif Zardari?
In Pakistan, many believe that the real story begins only after the elections end.

Hindraf Again

I just want to puke. They were just wanting to present roses to the Prime Minister. They were not carrying offensive weapons. Are Police frightened of roses. This phobia for gatherings is getting out of hand. Police may suddenly use chemical water and tear gas at any gathering in town, particularly Kuala Lumpur. You know the fear felt by ordinary citizens when a red Police vehicle is seen, the fear they are going to be blessed with laced water and tear gas.

I thought the Police are people’s friends, but it turns out they are our worst enemies. Can you change this concept if there is fear in the minds of the people.

I remember a group presented pillows and bolsters to the Prime Minister which was accepted. Following this can the children be sent out in groups of six and seven to see the Prime Minister and present him anything worthwhile.

Yes Government must clarify.

Why does the Government fear Hindraf so much?

I hope Kuala Lumpur Police Chief Datuk Muhammad Sabtu Osman knows what he is talking about. Only beggars, destitute people, or people without any means of support are send to the Welfare Department. Please think before you speak.

Police have started their ’snuff’ campaign known as “Ops Padam” to stop the Rose-for-PM-Free-Hindraf-Five gathering tomorrow. (IMHO, that Pembohong doesn’t deserve any flowers)
Kuala Lumpur Police Chief Datuk Muhammad Sabtu Osman has even threatened to take away any children there and put them under the care of Welfare Department??!!!???
What about Sharlinie? Have you forgotten her, Musa Hassan?
How about rallying those thousands of police officers to look for her?
Or is serving the BN caretaker government during elections more important?
