Old classic Tamil film song. Original singer R.Balasaraswathy, Film ‘Raja En Kanmani’. Now singing DeepaMiriam for DoorDershan, Chennai. Any memories you would like to share?

Some time ago, about 3 weeks after the Hindraf rally, I blocked about woman fearing their wrath when scorned. It is a fact which many of my readers will be familiar with. Woman, the timid gender, rising up tall to do things which even man would think twice. I also quoted from a Zorro blog of a famous woman advocate Susan B. Anthony, who said

“There never will be complete equality until women themselves help to make laws and elect lawmakers.”

This said at the beginning of the century is still relevant. We have Makkal Sakthi (people power), showing its might, and raising the voice of the hitherto unheard and insignificant voice, the voice of a citizen. Why not complement this with another powerful weapon Woman Power aka Pengal Sakthi.

There are a lot of house-wives and sisters who can, if they decide, change the face of the political scene once they get involved. Shouldn’t they be encouraged to come forward to help not only the present generation but the children and grand children to follow. I have read a lot of opinions written by ladies in letters and comments to alternate newspapers like Malaysiakini and bloggs. If they can spread these among their own friends, the coverage will be extensive and women will be not left of the picture. Somebody start.

Come ladies do something. You can read my last post here.

Sometime back I commented on over-zealous Immigration enforcement officers holed up in a night club for 3 days to arrest 7 women, who according to the intelligent and contorted moral education of the officers, were found to be improperly dressed – they had clothes on but flesh was showing. This happened in Jalan Ipoh Kuala Lumpur. Utusan Malaysia on line today reports Klang town has turned into a cosmopolitan town of Indonesians, Myammar, Vietnam and Bangladesh. I suppose the situation was very obvious when the town was deserted because of Chinese New Year. I can imagine a foreigner stepping into town imagining Malaysia is populated by these foreigners not knowing who the original inhabitants are. He can’t be blamed. The paper talks of thousands of foreigners. It must be bad then.

They being there is one think, but if locals express fear of these foreigners in groups, then something is wrong. I am reminded of the camel and tent Arabic story and wonder if this may not be repeated here. I go to a place in a nearby Taman and though I never counted, the ratio of foreigners to locals is 10:2. Yes you may meet 10 foreigners before coming to a local. Even now I can’t differenciate a Myammar and a Vietnamese. Reports say we have 2.1 million foreigners. Looking at my rough estimation of 10:2, I wonder if the figures are correct.

I am not saying Immigration enforcement officers should not visit night clubs to detect immigration irregularities, if these visits are educational to them than let be it, but what about checking on foreigners in towns and places where shopping is done. If this done, foreigners won’t be unruly, but at the same time they can flush out illegals.

Warga asing penuhi bandar Klang

KLANG 7 Feb.

I hope Manoharan is not going to stand as an independent. Independents never pull votes, unless of course the person is a charismatic leader and has past records to show ability.Tamil language is in safe hands. It is only the Government that is messing up the implementation and not according it equal facilities with other languages.

Rather than being an independent, why don’t he join up with opposition parties to voice his grievances.

Dauk S.Veerasingam missed out a few details in this announcement.
The party wants it, yes, what about the electors in Sungei Siput.
A postmortem of the excellent service record dating back to 1974 has revealed 7 flaws or issues if you like it that way. How many flaws will another 5 years bring about.
