I am pleasantly surprised at our Election Commission chief retorting “’I Need Time To Think,’  as reported by Bernama.

What type of a gratitude is this? The government going all out to make him the Election Commission Chairman, battering the BERSIH people, arresting and charging them, creating history in this country by rallying on a very important election matter and there he is demurring he wants time. Would it not have been possible to tell those in power earlier, here I mean the PM whose intimacy with Rashid is exemplified when Rashid did know the election date before the PM himself.

He behaves like a Reluctant Debutante to the 25 million voters and those who have not registered. God save him.

About 40 Hindraf supporters gathered outside Bukit Aman to show support for the Hindraf leaders detained under ISA and dispersed just after 50 minutes so says Malaysiakini.

The detained heroes were not at Bukit Aman but had been removed to Kamunting detention camp as confirmed by the IGP.

The detention must be kept alive and there is no better ways than to have to impromptu gatherings to show displeasure at the wrong detention, and a worst detention under ISA. Another ceremah is on at Klang and it is hoped the outcome will help the detainees.

The bad taste is still agitating in your mouth and there you have well-wishers out there saying they don’t support Hindraf because of not being able to understand its objectives. To start off, it is so easy to dismiss the inadequacies of the argument by finger pointing to the lower income group, and a classic retort, ‘are you protesting because you are a Hindu or that you are poor’. I am not here to start another agreement but, the statement “Hindraf is right about the growing poverty in Malaysia. However, they should not see themselves as the marginalised or oppressed minority because there are poor people everywhere” sums up exactly what Hindraf was trying to change. Marginalising is synonymous with apartheid where one talks about racial segregation, meaning you are not important like the others. When temples are mowed down and you are helpless would not any individual claim they are not treated the same in terms of
importance, influence, or power: Suffice to say you are either for Hindraf or not, carrying on about poor people in all strata of the population does not support your reason, why you don’t support Hindraf.

So it has happened. Six Indians have been arrested under ISA. We have heard that in Malaysia, a Malay problem is a national problem. A Chinese problem is a racial problem. An Indian problem, however, is not a problem.

The Indian plight is not a problem, and having had no course of action to charge them under the Sedition Act, they are packed off permanently and by this Badawi thinks the problems of the Indians have been swept under the carpet and there is Samy Vellu to get the Indians to vote with his bribery of sewing machines and the like. I think he is sadly wrong.

For the Indians MIC must become a worst enemy than Barisan. I am not saying this out of anger, but if MIC had not allowed the Indians to be marginalised, but raised issues now and then, the situation would not have gone this bad. Can the Indians do that? For some MIC is a way to become rich, obtain titles, collect crumbs that fall off the table, move with the elite, plunder the Government with the help of UMNO and be a somebody. I do hope they will have a change of heart. Think of the 6 detainees and the families, they risked everything to make Malaysia a better place for the Indians in spite of the terrible odds. Surely those who are against Hindraf, Indians and others must take stock of the worsening conditions that exist in Malaysia.

Hindraf did the right thing. Can any one bring up the problems as they did. If Hindraf rally did not take place, the world would not even know the actual conditions of the Indians in Malaysia. If not, the Indians would have grumbled and got on with their life.

Hot lines, reports to Badawi, false statistics, are the only responses we had from the powers to overcome the Indian problem. A pack of lies and this is very common and day to day affair both with Badawi and his gang. Badawi is losing his hold on UMNO, and to make amends, he is after Hindraf hoping the Malays will be frightened and vote Badawi in again. He will get in. But his gang of thieves in the coalition may not have it easy. They will win but not with the majority they had last time.

The date of election will be put forward even by another 6 months, as the present condition is too tense and the anger of the people at the moment will make everyone a enemy to the Government. This interval is good for Indians to register as voters and ensure every single man or woman is a voter. What power we have let us use it wisely.

As for the six Hindraf leaders, they are heroes for the Indians, though many don’t think so. Let us keep vigil that they will be released as soon as possible.

What more can we do?
